Metz Cock and Hen fly tying capes are the best quality of cape the Fly Tyer can buy. Each of these capes provide hundreds of the best quality hackles. Each hackle can tie up to 4 dry flies. Due to the density of fibres these ultimately prove the least expensive way to purchase hackles. They also provide the a proffessional look to any fly and especially on dry flies you can apply less turns of hackle to produce the same bouancy. These genetic capes are considered to the one of the best fly tying materials you can buy.
Wire is one of those essential fly tying materials especially for tying trout flies. Wire is used as ribs and comes in a variaty of colours and can be used as a complete body material as in wire Buzzers. Lead wire is generally used as an underbody to add weight to flies from lures to grayling flies to get those flies deeper in the water column when fly fishing.
Varnish and Wax is another fly tying materials essential. Wax is used to make tying thread tacky so you can apply dubbing. Wax is also used sparingly and 1 block or bottle can last many years. Varnish is used to seal whip finish and thread wraps at the head of a fly and gives the head a glossy finish. Varnish also protects the fly from the rigours of fly fishing
Thread is another fly tying materials essential. Thread is the basis of all fly tying. We offer fine for small dry fly patterns, standard for the majority of fly tying work and specialist extra strong for your saltwater and pike tying patterns. All thread is now on permanant special offer and is reduced from £1.25 to £0.95 Floss is an an excellent fly tying material used in many trout and Salmon patterns. It can be used for tails and used as a body material on your favourite fly fishing patterns.
Arificial hair has some great properties as fly tying materials go, especially for saltwater and pike fly fishing aplications. You can get the bulk required for thoses bigger pike and saltwater fly patterns without the weight and they also shed water. This then eases casting and therefore inceases distance. Artificial hair also comes in a variety of solid and translucent colours which is difficult to obtain using natural materials. This translucency and shimmer can give rise to some excellent baitfish patterns.
Natural hair as fly tying materials has many uses for the fly tyer and comes in a myriad of colours and lengths. The main uses is for wings on Slamon flies but can be used for all other fly patterns including trout, saltwater and Pike flies. On trout flies natural hair can be used for wings, wing posts and tails. On saltwater and pike flies it is mainly used as wings and bodies.
Adding a little flash to any fly can really bring that fly to life, adding sparkle and attracting those fish. It can also be used for whole wings, wing posts, tails and bodies if you wish on all types of fly patterns
In Fly Tying feathers and hackles can be used for wings, feelers, tails, hackles and more. Cudafly supply the best of these fly tying materials that are available on the market today.
All Hooks that are available on the Cudafly website are of the highest quality and will never let you down. As we constantly update the product list we will be extending our range of hooks from varying companies.
Turrall hooks are made by craftsmen, using both traditional and state-of-the-art purpose -designed equipment, from high-carbon nickel chrome Sheffield steel. The hooks feature dual-cone centreless-ground chemically sharpened points and low-cut short micro barbs. We produce double bronzed or black lacquered hooks and, in addition, the new generation are nickel plated for triple protection. Unlike other chemically sharpened hooks they can be re-sharpened. There hooks are prized for their design, sharpness, hardness, strength and endurance. Hooks come in packets of 25 unless otherwise stated.
Synthetic body materials are being used more extensively in conjunction with natural materials. They can make your flies far more realistic and have a depth of translucency. Can be used for salmon, trout, pike and saltwater flies.
Mylar tubing has traditionally been used for trout Lures and salmon fly tubes, however as with Gator Braid now comes into its own with Saltwater and Pike fly patterns.
Fly Tying Materials. If you need to add some weight to your fly a Gold Head or Conehead will do this and add some flash at the same time. Beads can also be used to add an extra dimension to thorax area etc. Gold Head beads are generaaly used for trout flies whilst Coneheads are used for Salmon Flies.
Fly Tying materials. Eyes not can not only add weight to a fly but give it a great hitting for the fish and an extra dimension to the finished fly. The epoxy eyes and self adhesive flat are a must for all you saltwater tiers, whilst the chrome and floating bug eyes can be used on both pike, saltwater and trout flies.
Fly Tying Materials. Chenile is used for most traditional lures for both Salmon and Trout and used extensively for nymphs such as the montana. Fritz is a fantastic translucent material with plenty of movement. Used in Cats Whisker and Blob type patterns.
Fly Tying Materials. Dubbing materials are essential for creating life like natural fly patterns that catch. On nymphs the materials trap air bubbles and pulsate in the water. Dubbing can also be mixed to create desired shades.
Fly Tying Materials. Bottle Tubes represent the latest in Salmon tube design and are ideal for early and late season when the Salmon are down deep. Also included are the latest Shumikov Tubes. Waddington Shanks, plastic and copper tubes are also included.
